Venue Spotlight: The Continental Club - Austin

Austin, Texas is known for its widespread range of musical entertainment. From locals singing in grocery stores to dimly lit dive bars to hosting one of the country’s biggest music festivals, if you name it then Austin probably has it. The vibrant music scene is compromised by many renowned venues, but one to not miss out on is The Continental Club. 

Located on the famous South Congress, The Continental Club has been an Austin staple since 1955. If the walls could talk, they would tell you just how historical this venue is. From Stevie Ray Vaughn to The Replacements, this now historical landmark has been called home by many talented musicians and helps emerging talent find their spotlight.

After making such an impact in Austin and the need for another home for regular Continental Club musicians, the club owners decided to expand the reach of their reputation 150 miles. They settled on Houston’s Main Street to put down roots for their growing legacy. 

Venue Spotlight: The Bluebird Café

Rooted in Music City, or otherwise known as Nashville, Tennessee, The Bluebird Café holds a special place in the hearts of many. From the outside you might think that it’s nothing special, but the minute you step through the doors you will feel the rich history of legendary artists that the Bluebird Café exudes. 

This iconic scene is known for its integral role in the career launches for many of the biggest names in country music. Artists like Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks were discovered in this quaint and cozy spot. The 90 seat venue is a listening space where artists are born, but it is also a space for chart topping artists to return and reminisce on where they came from. Built on intimacy and their own “shhh” policy, the cafe provides singers and songwriters the ability to concentrate on the words and message a song portrays. With a contagious atmosphere of sincerity, the audience is drawn into the songwriters’ storytelling of the meaning behind their songs making it an unforgettable experience. 

The café hosts two shows a night every night of the week. It rose even higher in fame when it was featured as a key factor in the plotline of ABC’s hit drama tv show, Nashville.
